Time is short...
I got news that two different people I know died last night. One of them confessed Jesus Christ with his lips and walked in a relationship with Him for nearly a century. The other person was a habitual drunkard, habitual drug user, and heavily into Native American idolatry. One of them found the way, the truth, and the life, and will now live forever with no more tears and no more pain. The other is in the presence of the tormentors with no water, which is a vacation compared to the lake of fire where she will burn without being consumed as the smoke of her torment rises forever.
This is why I risk offending y’all so frequently with the gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s not just about living a clean and prosperous life now. It’s about living joyfully forever in perfect love with your Heavenly Father and all the saints who put their full trust in Him!
You might have a moment on your death bed to reflect on eternity and throw out a last minute prayer. It better be the most sincere words you’ve ever spoken.
But you might not get that time. For some people that moment comes upon them suddenly and without warning. So here is your warning.
REPENT. REPENT OF YOUR SINS AND MAKE JESUS CHRIST LORD OF YOUR LIFE WHILE YOU STILL CAN.
While you’re at it go ahead and share the gospel with someone else too.
As tragic and heartbreaking as the loss of life is, the reality of eternal torment and separation makes the loss so much harder to bear. Inversely, when you lose someone you love, and you KNOW that Jesus Christ was truly their Lord, your sorrow is turned into gladness and your weeping is turned into rejoicing!
Time is short for all of us. Stop being wicked and foolish. The free gift of salvation and joy everlasting is available. Cry out to Jesus today and ask Him to forgive you and to come into your heart. I promise you won’t regret it!!!
*edit to add that I hope person number 2 indeed repented in those last moments and believed on the Lord Jesus and is truly saved. Nobody truly knows right now but her and Jesus. Give your family the gift of joy at your passing because they KNOW you made it from the testimony they heard from your lips, and the fruit they saw in your lives.
